Morris "Monty" Montague Hash

Morris “Monty” Hash age 89, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Southwell Health & Rehab, Adel, Ga.

Monty Hash lived life to the fullest and was a true music man from early life. From singing with George Jones, hanging out on the bus with Willie Nelson, and playing  the bass upside down for the Haggard twins – Monty lived the life. He went on to produce and scout talent and eventually became an ordained minister, following the Gospel in music and word. Whether you knew him as Monty or Morris, he was music through and through. He loved his family and many friends, but how sweet to know today he’s making music in Heaven’s Angel Band.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Virginia Wilson Hash; four siblings, Lee Hash, Loretta Drake, Jim Hash, and Stanley Hash.

Monty is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bonnie Emmons Hash of Adel, Ga.; children, Mark Allen Hash and wife, Debbie of Marion, Va.; Lynn Ellen Horne of Adel, Ga. and significant other, Jon Schueler of California; six grandchildren, Justin Horne, Sheldon Horne, Tyler Horne, Joey Hutson, Rebecca Reeves, and Aaron Hash; a multitude of nieces and nephews and their families; special friends, Jerry Calhoun, Gary Hart, Jimmy and Barbara Dell, and Mona Bailey.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 1 until 2 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Blake Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, 231 Red Stone Road, Chilhowie, VA 24319.
