Norma Marchant Hart

MARION, Va.

NORMA MARCHANT HART, age 84, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.

Mrs. Hart was a ray of sunshine. She was always smiling with a kind word. Norma was a wonderful sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She made many friends in her work life at Harwood, Service Dry Cleaners, Buster Brown and Catron Cleaners. Mrs. Hart was a lifelong member of Falling Water Baptist Church where her loving way and years of service left lasting impressions on many through her years as a Sunday school teacher, WMU, XYZ and nursery worker. She was always smiling, mostly because that's just who she was, but maybe because she had just "pulled one" over on you. Norma loved life and laughing – she will be missed and always loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carrie Marchant; brothers, C.L., Jerry and Joe Marchant.

Norma is survived by her husband of 59 years, Billy O. Hart of Marion, Va.; daughters, Donna M. Sawyers of San Jose, Cali., and Cathy Morrow and husband, Dixon of Carrollton, Va.; sister, Shelby M. Powell of Marion, Va.; brother, John Marchant III and wife, Linda of King, N.C.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hart of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Beth Lambert of San Jose, Cali. and Sara Morrow of Carrollton, Va.; great-grandchildren, William and Avery Lambert; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ruth Dutton.

Special thanks to the staff of Francis Marion Manor and Smyth County Community Hospital for the care given to Mrs. Hart.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Sluss and Pastor Tim Boyette officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
