SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: OLIVET LONG CARNETT, age 80, died Friday, December 29, 2006 in Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born July 17, 1926 to the late Levi and Annis Saunders Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Clifford Carnett, her oldest son, Larry Clifford Baldwin and three brothers. Mrs. Carnett was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Sugar Grove, Virginia. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Dewey Vance Carnett of Cripple Creek, Virginia and Darrell Jack Cornett of Sugar Grove, Virginia; Five brothers, L.D. Long and Charles "Jud" Long both of Bastian, Virginia, Mark Long of Philidelphia, Pennsylvania, Harold Long of Marion, Virginia and Fred Long of Bel Air, Maryland; Seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. LeRoy Long officiating. Burial will follow in Slemp Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
