MARION, VIRGINIA: PAUL D. SUTHERLAND, age 75, died Friday, April 10, 2009 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Firestone Sutherland and his father and mother, Lucas and Victoria Purdy Sutherland. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Don Atwell and Martha and Ronnie Atwell all of Groseclose, Virginia, Cynthia and Mark Peake of Marion, Virginia; three sons and daughter-in-law, David and Sandy Sutherland of Crockett, Virginia, Joseph Sutherland and Michael Sutherland of Marion, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Morgan Sutherland, Joey and wife Ashley Sutherland, Angie and husband Jason Lamie, Alicia and husband Logan Rouse, Chris and wife Tosha Atwell, Victoria Sutherland, Kimberly and husband Billy Moore; five great-grandchildren, Caitlin Lamie, Johnathan Lamie, Tristan Moore, Austin Rouse, Nicholas Rouse; three step-grandchildren, Crystal Peake, Matthew Atwell and wife Kim, and Joey Atwell and wife Selena; five step-great-grandchildren, Summer Russell, Kevin Cale, Jack Moore, Michael Moore, Joseph Atwell; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 12, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Attoway Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expression of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
