MARION, VIRGINIA: PEGGY LOU CULLOP BLEVINS, age 77, went to be with Jesus Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Virginia after a long and courageous battle with lung disease.
She was born February 24, 1934 to the late William Edward and Lillie Belle Cullop in Washington County, Virginia. Peggy was a member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church and the VFW Womens Auxiliary. She was retired from Southwestern Mental Health Institute in Marion, Virginia after 31 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy L. Blevins.
Peggy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Elden and Pam Blevins of Telford, Tennessee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Jones and Stan Djukovich and Kristi and Bobby Widener, all of Marion, Virginia; foster daughter, who she loved like a daughter, Dawn Sheets of Chilhowie, Virginia; six grandchildren, Katie, Trevor and Lucas Widener and Justin Jones, all of Marion, Virginia, and Jonathan and Mark Blevins of Johnson City, Tennessee; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Kasi; three sisters and brothers-in-law, her twin, Betty Sue and Jay Testerman of Bristol, Virginia, Edna and Leonard Creasy of Glade Spring, Virginia and Bonnie Wright of Covington, Virginia; two brothers and sister-in-law, Gail E. and MaryAnn Cullop of Beaver, West Virginia and Joseph Cullop of Marion, Virginia; very special niece Carol Rasnake of Bristol, Virginia; and special friend, Betty Childress of Marion, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Neville Mozingo and Reverend Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Grosses Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
