MARION, VIRGINIA: PHYLLIS MARIE GENTRY DOSS, age 66, died Monday, July 6, 2015 at her home.
She was born February 12, 1949 in Smyth County, Virginia to the late Delmer and Charlotte Pickle Gentry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Chad Scott; and her brother, David Gentry.
Phyllis was a wonderful loving mother. She was a self taught seamstress who thoroughly enjoyed making clothes for her children. She was the picture of a total military wife. When her husband Tom retired from the military, the U.S. Air Force gave Phyllis a retirement certificate. She remained close to her military friends and continued to assist with youth activities for military families. Her goal in life was always to make people laugh, and that she achieved.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Doss, U.S. Air Force Retired Major of Marion, Virginia; one daughter, Brandyn Kristi Fillback and husband, Jason of Fairborn, Ohio; one son, T.R. Doss, Jr. of Marion, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Diane Gentry, Marion, Virginia and Darlene Snodgrass and husband, John of Friendship, Virginia; brother-in-law, Willard Doss & wife, Susan of Friendship, Virginia; five grandchildren, Tanner Owen Doss, Hannah Alley Barr, Cydney Fillback, Stephanie Fillback and Tyler Fillback; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Brenda Cress.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Bill McCollian officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
