MARION, Va.
Phyllis W. Forrester, age 80, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
She was born April 15, 1937 in High Point, N.C. to the late James E. and Mary Lee O'dell Webster Wheeless. Phyllis was a nurturer and care giver by nature. She spent 43 years as a Registered Radiology Technician and was retired from Smyth County Community Hospital. After retiring she stayed busy with home care for the elderly. In her younger years Phyllis had enjoyed bowling, and after some health issues she had turned her energy to walking, going to plays at the Barter Theater, taking trips with Sunshine Tours, and meeting with two senior groups in Chilhowie. Her outgoing nature, and love for people was evident; and she will be dearly missed especially by her son and grandson, who were her best friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special sister-in-law, Sylvia D. Wheeless.
Phyllis is survived by her son, James "Jay" C. Forrester and wife, Cindy of Chilhowie, Va.; grandson, Derrick J. Forrester and wife, Evelyn of Wichita Falls, Texas; brothers, Donald Edward Wheless and wife, Janie of Powhatan, Va. and Jerry Lee Wheeless of Chilhowie, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Sabrina Rose, Melody Myers, and Margaret G. Lee.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Monday, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
