SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: RAYMOND SILAS LYONS, SR., age 72, passed away Friday, January 7, 2005 at home in Atkins with his family by his side. Born June 18, 1932 to the late Ted and Rose Greathouse Lyons, he was retired from the Brunswick Corporation with over 20 years of service. He was a wonderful daddy, husband, grandfather, and a good provider. Mr. Lyons loved to eat at the Sugar Grove Diner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Dewey Leon Lyons, two sisters, and four brothers. He is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Hawthorne of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Ella Wingate and husband, Chris of Sugar Grove, Virginia, and Daniel Hawthorne of Marion, Virginia. One son and daughter-in-law, Ray Lyons, Jr. and wife, Vanessa of Marion, Virginia. Special friends, Lewis Billings of Sugar Grove, Virginia, and Patrick Simmons of Rural Retreat, Virginia. His former wife and care giver, Helen Corvin of Atkins, Virginia. A sister-in-law, Mary Lyons of Saint Petersburg, Florida. Five grandchildren, Ashley Wingate, Sheri Heldreth, Crystal Ann Lyons, Tiffiney Doane, and Duston Stamper. Three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of Virginia Home Health and Hospice for their care of Mr. Lyons. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Wassum Cemetery, Marion, Virginia.
