Raymond Clark Sheets age 75, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at his home.

Raymond Sheets, husband, father, grandfather (or as his grandchildren called him “Papa”), a friend to all who knew him. He had a personality like no other. He was gentle and fun-loving, always joking around. You would tend to find him pouring water over your head or sticking rolled up toilet paper in your nose while sleeping. But he knew how to express his “tough love” side also. He was a man that loved many things, but his main love was his family, his only daughter, Crystal, Sarah and six grandchildren. Rarely was there a time that he wasn’t talking about them. Some of the hobbies he enjoyed included beach and fishing trips with family members, Timmy Parks, Danny Sheets and Mike Parks. In his down time, he enjoyed watching westerns, Little House on the Prairie and wrestling. You’ll always be in our hearts, love you endlessly!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordie and Ruby Sheets; sister, Charlotte Sheets Parks and husband, Guy Parks; brothers, Bill Sheets, Jim Sheets, and Allen Sheets; nephews, Mike Parks and Richard Parks; nieces, Debbie Osborne and Wilma Parks Cress; best friend, Bobby Hutton; brother-in-law, Walter Lee Keen; and dog, Gemini.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Sarah “Punk” Sheets of Atkins, Va.; daughter, Crystal Sheets-Moore of Rural Retreat, Va.; brother, Kenny Sheets and wife, Debby of Marion, Va.; six grandchildren, Camryn Sheets, Michaela Moore, Avangeline “Mia” Moore, Brooklynn Moore, Gabriella Moore (Riley), and Corbin Ray Moore, all of Rural Retreat, Va.; several nieces and nephews and their families; special friends, Shorty and Dottie; sisters-in-law, Doris West Sheets, Pat Beckner, Sharon Arnold, Stella Mullins, Brenda Cole, Tiny Compton and Laura Mae Sheets and Georgie McWilliams; brother-in-law, Luther Keen; dogs, Pebbles and Zeus.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 9, 2023 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Keith Eller and Dennis Blevins officiating. Committal services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Comers Creek Baptist Church, Troutdale Va. with burial following in Comers Creek Cemetery.
