MARION, Va.: Raymond (Sonny) Vincent Taylor, Jr., 82, died Saturday, June 11, 2016.
He was born on April 7, 1934, in Marion, to the late Raymond Vincent and Elizabeth Wolfe Taylor. Sonny proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955. He was retired from Brunswick Corporation as a Technical Draftsman following 30 plus years of faithful service. Volunteering with over 30 years of service, he thoroughly enjoyed refereeing and coaching little league and rec sports in the town of Marion. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, and will always be remembered as a huge Hokies fan!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Young.
Family remaining to cherish his memory includes sons, Michael Vincent Taylor of Nashville, Tenn., and Brett Shannon Taylor of Marion, Va.; daughter, LeAnne Elizabeth Bellar and husband, Michael of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren, Abigail Baldwin of Columbus, Ohio, Nicholas Bellar of Crown Point, Ind., Alexandria Taylor of Nashville, Tenn., and Samuel Taylor of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Mary Anne Kline of Hays, Kan.; loving companion, Diane Martin of Princeton, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Va. where military rights will be presented by Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.
