Rev. Alvin Huggins Jackson age 79, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at McLeod Seacoast, Little River, S.C.
Born on August 10, 1944, in Dillon, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Knox Jackson and the late Kathleen Huggins Jackson. Rev. Jackson graduated from Fruitland Baptist College. Throughout his life Rev. Jackson was a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord. He pastored eight churches, was heavily involved with the South Carolina Baptist Association, was the director of missions for the Carolina Baptist Association, and a faithful member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church. He directed mission trips to Haiti, Nepal, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia while also serving as chaplain at McLeod Hospitals and the Loris Extended Care Facility. In his personal life, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, and he will be dearly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Jackson was predeceased by three brothers, Ken Jackson, Lowell Jackson, and Harold Jackson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Jackson; three children, Ron Jackson (Christina), Christy Tyler (Chris), and Rebekah Higingbottom (Travis); seven grandchildren, Cassidy Bell (Hunter), Cayla Mishoe (Dawson), Kenley Jackson, Carson Tyler, Ayden Higingbottom, Noah Higingbottom, and Easton Higingbottom; one great-grandson, Jameson Bell; sister-in-law, Maxine Jackson, and his dog “Jack” who was his best friend.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Dogwood Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Floyd officiating. Committal services will follow at Patterson Cemetery.
