CHILHOWIE, Va.: Reverend Daniel Chester Hall, Sr. age 93, of Jefferson, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016.
Reverend Hall was born in Chilhowie, Virginia, a son to the late Vernon Smythe Hall and the late Dinah Mae Blevins Hall. Reverend Hall was a lifelong Southern Baptist Minister serving in Virginia, Tennessee, and in the Georgia communities of Ohoopee County, Buckhead, Cochran, Washington, Carlton, Avery and Camak. Reverend Hall graduated from and was Valedictorian of his class at the Clear Creek Bible College in Pineville, KY, later attended Brewton-Parker College and was a member of the Pendergrass Baptist Church for the last nine years. In addition to his parents, Reverend Hall was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Sherrill Tilson Hall, infant daughters, Norma Jean Hall and Judy Grey Hall, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 half-brother and 3 half-sisters.
Survivors include his children, Daniel C. “Dan” Hall Jr. wife, Ali of Gainesville, Joy Hall Hancock of Jefferson, Alan Hall and wife, Karen of Lexington, SC; brothers, Edwin Mitchell “Mickey” Hall and Jerry Lee Hall both of Marion, Va,; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 5 p.m. at Pendergrass Baptist Church, Pendergrass, Ga. with Reverend Erwin Goss, Reverend Dan Fuller and Reverend Randall Hulsey officiating. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Chilhowie, Va. with Reverend Paul Jones officiating. The family will meet at 1:00pm in the Seaver Brown Funeral Home in Marion, VA on Saturday, prior to the burial. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are, Dan Hall III, Tony Hall, Ross Hancock, Rick Pittard, Max Hall and Alex Hall.
