Richard Bates

MARION, VIRGINIA: RICHARD DWIGHT BATES, age 64, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Mr. Bates was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by a brother, Burnace Gerald Bates. Mr. Bates is survived by his wife, Bonnie Orr Bates of Marion, Virginia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Debra Bates of Wytheville, Virginia and David and Brooke Bates of Crockett, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Willard Murray of Marion, Virginia; two brothers, Ronald Bates of Abingdon, Virginia and Colin Bates of Hamilton, Ohio; one grandchild, Sage Bates; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 25, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
