ATKINS, Va.

Richard Lee Clark age 87, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at his home.

Richard had his priorities in order. He was a faithful member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church for over 70 years, serving in multiple roles of leadership. He was the treasurer of the Weekday Religious Education for over 20 years, a charter member of the Atkins Ruritan Club, and was Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #294 of Atkins. As busy as he was serving his Lord, church and community, he found time to be employed at Smyth County Community Hospital for over 30 years in the accounting department. And, certainly foremost in his heart, his family. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His presence in his family’s lives will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Lee Clark; son, Richard Keith Clark; parents, John and Blanche Clark.

Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Catron Clark of Atkins, Va.; son, Dr. Aaron Catron Clark (Dr. Pooneh Lari) of Cary, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Julie Robinson Clark of Atkins, Va.; sister, Judy Goodman (Norman) of Independence, Ky.; brothers, Fred Clark (Charlotte), and Larry “Pete” Adams (Willa), all of Atkins, Va.; four grandchildren, Ben Clark, Samuel Clark, Kia Lari-Clark, and Sura Lari-Clark; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 17, 2023 from 12 until 1 p.m. at Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, 132 Churchland Drive, Atkins VA 24311. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Justin Hall officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 7764 Lee Highway, Rural Retreat, VA 24368.
