CERES, VIRGINIA: RICKEY LEE MERCER, age 50, passed away Monday, April 04, 2011 at his home.
Rickey was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, brother and uncle; as well as a good man who had no enemies. Rickey was employed at Utility Trailer for 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mercer and his father-in-law, George Shupe, Sr. and his grandmother, Carrie Mercer.
Rickey is survived by his wife, Pamela Mercer of Ceres; daughters, Shelly Ellison of Ceres and Candace Mercer of Rural Retreat; mother, Patricia Mercer of Atkins; mother-in-law, Betty Shupe Hensley of Atkins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelia and Tommy Moore and Lora Ann and Sonny Corpus, all of Marion; granddaughter, Autumn Grace Arnold, several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Matthew Shupe; special friends, Byron and Barbara Kegley, Earl Durham, and his co-workers at Utility Trailer.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mike Sage, Reverend Steve Hutton and Brother Tommy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Ceres. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
