MARION, Va.
Robert Eugene Haga, of Fenton, Mich., known to his friends as “Bob” or “Gene” was taken to heaven, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the age of 87.
Gene was born February 12, 1930 in Smyth County, Va. to the late John A. Haga and Gracie Ann (Holdaway) Haga. Gene married Eva G. Ross in a simple ceremony on Christmas Eve, 1952. Gene loved his large garden and could frequently be seen on the lakes fishing or in the woods hunting. Gene was a member of the Fenton Free Methodist Church where he had served his Lord teaching Sunday School, and maintaining church property. Gene retired from General Motors Truck & Bus in 1985 after more than 30 years of service.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, John Jr., and Sherman; sisters, Beatrice Blevins, Dorothy Musser, Martha Haga, Lizzie Cassell, and Lessie Brock.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Eva; sons, Bill and Tony (Mary); grandsons, Ben and John; special nieces, Emma and Mary Ann; and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, Marion, Va. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Groseclose, Va. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
