MARION, VIRGINIA: ROBERT "BOB" W. STAMPER, age 70, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at Smyth County Community Hospital. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was retired from the Department of Corrections after over 34 years of service and was currently employed at Hungry Mother Convenience Center. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn B. Stamper; three daughters, Patricia S. Dunford and husband Steven "Tex" Dunford, Annette S. Kestner and husband, Jason L. Kestner, and Karen L. Stamper; grandchildren, Chase A. Kestner, Melody E. Kestner; brothers and sisters, Jack Stamper and wife, Mary Ann, John Stamper and wife, Connie, Linda Mros and husband, Jim, Brenda Hayden, Buster Stamper, Judy Brisson and husband, Richard, Jimmy Stamper and wife, Mary, Ray Stamper and wife, Cassie, and Tim Stamper. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Ryan Cox officiating. Burial will follow in McClure Cemetery in Chilhowie, Virginia with Military Rites conducted by the Marion Department of Corrections Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
