Ronald L. McCord age 87, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, May 4, 2023, surrounded by family and caregivers.
He was born October 10, 1935, in Fairmont, West Va. to the late Thomas George and Wilda Glide Saffle McCord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Gail Bailey McCord along with four sisters, Dorotha Mae Haught of Fairmont, West Va., Elizabeth Joan Davis of Tunnelton, West Va., Faye Louise Musick of Morgantown, West Va., and Norma Jean Francis of Broadway, Va.
Ronald is survived by a son, Ronald Lee McCord, Jr. and wife, Laurice of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Sandra Kay Yonts and husband, James, Jr. of Marion Va.; six grandchildren, Meagan Waddell, Austin McCord, Emalee McCord, James Yonts III, Christopher Yonts, and Jason Yonts; four great-grandchildren, Elijah Crone, Emerald Crone, Grayson Yonts, and Sophia Yonts; several nieces and nephews.
Blessed thanks to special caregivers, Meghann Reynolds, Willa Sheets and Carol Hall. A word of appreciation for Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. in Wassum Cemetery, 5549-5557 Lee Highway, Atkins, Va. 24311. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at Royal Oak Presbyterian Church, 139 West Main Street, Marion, Va. 24354 with the Reverend Dr. Alan Gray officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Royal Oak Presbyterian Church Attn: Treasurer, 139 West Main Street, Marion, Va. 24354.
