WYTHEVILLE, VIRGINIA: RONALD ALFREDRICK STACY, age 87, of Asbury Place, Wytheville, Virginia, went to sleep with the Lord, Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in Carrington Place of Birdmont at Wytheville, Virginia. Ronald was born, October 17, 1918, in Jonesboro, Indiana to the late Maluim Cephas Stacy and Beatrice Quillen Stacy. He grew up in Bland County, Virginia, where he began work at the age of 14 for Virginia Hardwood Lumber Company in Bastian, Virginia. He served as PFC BAR Rifleman in the Luzon Campaign, Company L, 148th Infantry, 37th Division of the US Army during World War II. He returned to Bland County and began work as a mechanic with auto dealerships in Bastian and Bluefield before moving his family to Roanoke, Virginia in 1960 where he worked as an Auto Technician with various General Motors Dealerships until his retirement from Woodson Pontiac and Honda, Roanoke, Virginia, in April 1984. After his retirements, he transported cars for various automobile dealerships in the Roanoke Area for dealer trades until 2002 when he decided he had earned the right to stop work for a while. He was a long time member of the Roanoke Church of God (Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise), Roanoke, Virginia where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He served on the Virginia Board of Trustees for the Church of God for many years also. He and his wife moved to Asbury Place, Wytheville, Virginia in November 2004. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Dorothy Looney Stacy of Wytheville, Virginia. Two sons, Donald Wayne Stacy and wife, Peggy of Atkins, Virginia, and Ronald Leon Stacy and wife, Judy of Raleigh, North Carolina. Three grandchildren, Rhonda Hall and husband, Shayne of Atkins, Virginia; Renita Kalber and husband, Chris of Marion, Virginia; and Jimmy Stacy of Raleigh, North Carolina. Four great-grandchildren, Kara and Adrian Hall both of Atkins, Virginia, and Lindsey and Lucas Kalber both of Marion, Virginia. One brother, Malen Clinton Stacy and wife, Polly of Kingsport, Tennessee. Five sisters, Josephine Parks of Bastian, Virginia; Dorothy Kidd of Bluefield, Virginia; Ina Brooks and husband, Fred of Mechanicsville, Virginia; Georgia Havens of Bastian, Virginia; and Lois Hohenberger of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. One sister-in-law, Nancy Craven Stacy of Chester, Virginia, and many loving nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Kate Lane and a brother, Bobby Gene Stacy. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Bastian Church of God, Bastian, Virginia, with Rev. David Webb and Rev. Nouhad Melki officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Bastian, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bastian Church of God.
