Ruth Copenhaver

MARION, Va.

Ruth Ann Copenhaver age 90, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.

Born March 7, 1932 in Chatham Hill, Va. to the late Joseph and Nannie Vipperman, Ruth was the last of her siblings to join the family on Heaven’s streets of gold. Ruth loved the Lord. She was a good Christian and a member of Blue Springs Methodist Church. She enjoyed a good day of fishing, especially if it ended with a meal at Long John Silver’s. You would often find her working in her flower bed, which she loved – specifically her geraniums. Ruth loved her family dearly and always put them first. She will be missed by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Copenhaver; brother, Richard Vipperman; sisters, Lucille Vipperman and Pauline Vaught.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Rosalie Choate of East Bend, N.C.; sons, John Copenhaver (Jane) of Gray, Tenn., Robert Copenhaver (Kathleen) and Billy Copenhaver (Dreama), all of Sugar Grove, Va.; 9 grandchildren, Christina, Jessica, Jeanne, Robbie, Tammy, Jon, Travis, Jason and Jason; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Kenny Price officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Blue Springs Cemetery, 168 Blue Springs Road, Rural Retreat, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
