MARION, VIRGINIA: RUTH CORVIN LOUTHEN, age 86, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at her home. She retired from the Southwestern State Hospital after 28 years of service. She loved quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Katherine Corvin; two brothers, B. A. Corvin and Roy Corvin; one sister, Mary Alice Corvin Jones; two sons, Charles H. Louthen and Calvin A. Louthen; two step-sons, Thomas W. Louthen Jr. and Billy C. Louthen; three step-daughters, Virginia Wright, Alma Lanier, and Jean Watkins.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice K. Berry and husband, Jack of Chilhowie, Virginia, Patricia L. Vanhoy and husband, Charles of Marion, Virginia; three sons, Willis E. Louthen and wife, Dora of Wellsburg, West Virginia, Samuel L. Louthen and wife, Jackie and Cecil "Donnie" Louthen and wife, Annie all of Sugar Grove, Virginia; one step-daughter, Mary Ruth Johnson of Salem, Virginia; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A special expression of gratitude is given to her sons-in-law, Jack and Charles for their gift of love and support.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mark Lundy and Mr. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wythe County, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, November 29, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
