Sally McGavock Harman Werth, age 96, died Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Rural Retreat, Va.
She was born April 29, 1920 in Dublin, Va. to the late David King Harman and Elizabeth Jackson Larew Harman. She graduated from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Va. and was a 1940 graduate of Randolph-Macon Women’s College. Mrs. Werth was a member of Royal Oak Presbyterian Church in Marion, Va. and taught at Marion Senior High School for 25 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Morrison Werth; daughter, Martha Lacy Werth Carter; and granddaughter, Sally McGavock Werth.
Mrs. Werth is survived by her children, Elizabeth Estep (Robert) of Rural Retreat, Va., and The Reverend Father Frederick Morrison Werth, Jr. of Mars Hill, N.C.; grandchildren, Laura Estep Liseno (Scott) of Huntersville, N.C., Frederick Morrison Werth, III (Diane) of St. Charles, Mo., Geoffrey Werth (Amber) of Franklin, N.C., Elizabeth Carter Oliver (Christopher) of Richmond, Va., Katherine Carter Walters (Curtis) of Roanoke, Va.; her much loved great-grandchildren, David, Jimmy, Joey and Philip Liseno, Frederick, Virginia, and Sally Werth, Christian Williams (Emma), Caitlin Werth, and Lacy and Annabelle Walters.
Graveside services and interment will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the New Dublin Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Dublin, Va. with the Reverend Alan Gray officiating.
