SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: SAMUEL "SAM" D. COX, age 72, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at his home in Sugar Grove, Virginia.
Sam was born in Camp, Virginia, September 15, 1939 to the late O. Guy and Mattie Elizabeth Halsey Cox. He was a life long resident and farmer in the Camp community. Sam was a member of Summit Baptist Church, The Lifetime Wellness Center and Young At Heart. He was retired from The American Screw Company after over 35 years of service. Sam was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Dowell Cox; daughter, Angela Marie Cox Gaver; both of Sugar Grove, Virginia; son-in-law, Phil of Marion, Virginia; son, Samuel D. Cox, Jr. and wife, Amy of Sugar Grove, Virginia; three grandchildren, Carmen Elizabeth Gaver, Philip Mathew Gaver and Samuel Lee Walker Cox.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Summit Baptist Church in Sugar Grove, Virginia with Reverend Jim Lundy, Reverend Don Tate and Reverend Allen Parks officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery in Camp, Virginia. Mr. Cox's body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
