ATKINS, VIRGINIA: SHELBY "JEAN" FORTNER JONES, age 67, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Hospice of Charleston Hospice Center, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Mrs. Jones was formerly of Atkins, Virginia and has resided with her daughter for the past seven years in Goose Creek, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence and Carrie Fortner; her husband, William "Bunny" Jones; and three sisters, Evelyn Fortner, Marie Kimberling, and Louise Crigger. She was employed at Virginia House Furniture in Atkins, Virginia with 20 years of service. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Glenn Aker of Goose Creek, South Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Tessia Jones of Atkins, Virginia; two grandsons Brandon Aker and Jerrad Aker both of Goose Creek, South Carolina; one granddaughter, Jodie Jones of Atkins, two step-grandsons, John Bowling of Max Meadows, Virginia, and James Hess of Atkins; one step-great-grandchild, Katlyn Bowlin; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends also survive. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Hospice of Charleston in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Groseclose, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
