Suellen Blizzard

MARION, Va.

Suellen Blizzard, age 75, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022.

Sue was a loving wife to her husband Joe and took special care of him in his final years. She was the most caring and patient mom to her kids and a wonderful Nana Sue to her grandchildren. She loved to play the piano and sing songs about the Lord. She was a special lady and will be missed by all her family and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Blizzard; parents, Dayton and Roberta Cortner; sister, Stephanie Pickle; and brother, Samuel Moses Cortner.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcy Kirk (Steve); sons, Mike Blizzard and Danny Blizzard, all of Marion, Va.; brother, James D. Cortner of Chilhowie, Va.; five grandchildren, Kayla Blizzard, Kenny Blizzard, Austin Kirk, Lucas Kirk and Jim Bob Kirk (Kim); four great-grandchildren, Chloe Sawyer, Abby Blizzard, Layla Kirk and Liam Kirk; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Gloria Blevins, Bobbie Jo Whitt, Raymond Akers, and Denny Taylor; and her dog, Boomer.

The family would like to especially thank the staff of Mountain States Hospice for their care, and the members of Valley View Baptist Church for their love and prayers.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Stout officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 14, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
