MARION, Va.
Susan Tilson Lindsey, age 69, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was born in Smyth County to the late Roy J. and Mozelle Tilson and was the oldest of her siblings. Susan helped raise her siblings, and loved to sew - often making clothes for them, and working a short time at Buster Brown. She retired as a teller from the Bank of Marion after 43 years of service. Susan was a faithful and involved member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed road trips, traveling, and Sunday drives. What Susan loved most was family – married at 19, she and Charles just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and were “attached at the hip.” She was a loving wife, sister, mother, “Bubba” to her grandson, and friend to many. Susan will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Chris Lindsey; brother, Sam Tilson.
Susan is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles Lindsey; son, Ernie Lindsey (Sarah); sisters, Louise Peak, Nancy Benson (Matthew); brothers, James Tilson (Dorothy), Roger Tilson, William Tilson (Debbie); sister-in-law, Betty Tilson; grandson, Jack Lindsey; several nieces and nephews; life-long best friend, Pam Davis.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 222 West Main Street, Marion, VA 24354, with Pastor Kayla Keilholtz officiating. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Hwy., Marion, VA 24354.
