THEODORE FRELINGHUYSEN TALMAGE JULY 31, 1917-FEBRUARY 7, 2006 THEODORE FRELINGHUYSEN TALMAGE (1917-2006) was born in Brooklyn Heights, NY July 31, 1917. He was the son of Louise and John Talmage. In 1980 he retired from Perkin-Elmer Corporation. Ted joined the Perkin-Elmer Company founded in 1940 with only 6 employees. When Ted retired, the company employed over 18, 000 world wide. At the time of his retirement he served as Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and Board Member. Ted married Elizabeth Jean Clark and they had three children, Wendy, John, and Louise (deceased). Ted is survived by Wendy Mears and husband Richard (Marion, Va), John Talmage and wife Lori (W. Palm Beach, Fl) and his wife of 65 years, Jean Clark Talmage. In addition Ted has 5 grandchildren, Jonathan T. Mears (Las Vegas), Thomas T. Balderston (attending Notre Dame University), Kristin C. Duda (NYC, NY) Katherine T. Hinkel (Las Vegas) and Victoria L. Talmage (Las Vegas). Ted is survived by two brothers, John Ditmas and Samual Thorn (Ted's twin) and two sisters, Louise Hirschberg and Gladys T. Perkin. In his youth Ted was an avid sailor as well as adept at many sports, including fishing and golf. He served as Director, Trustee, or member of many civic, education, banking and health organizations. He was an Incorporator and Director of South Norwalk Savings Bank in Connecticut and a Director of the Union Trust Company, Connecticut (now Wachovia Bank), Director of First National City Bank (now Citibank), and Capital Corporation. He served as Trustee of Sullins College (Va.), Norwalk Hospital (Ct.) and the Connecticut Public Expenditure Council, and the Greater Norwalk Community Foundation. He was Chairman of the Board of the Norwalk Manufacturers Council and a Director of the United Fund of Norwalk. During Ted's business career Jean and Ted lived in New Canaan, Connecticut. They traveled extensively in Europe and enjoyed retirement at their home in Lost Tree Village, North Palm Beach, FL. They spent their summers in Quechee, Vermont and New Canaac, CT. In 1999 they moved to Devonshire, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was formerly a member of the Noroton Yacht Club, The Devon Yacht Club, Woodway Country Club, Waccabuc Country Club, Lost Tree Club, Quechee Club, Old Port Cove Yacht Club, Saint Nicholas Society, Sons of the Revolution and the LambdaChi Alpha Fraternity (Colgate University). He graduated from Saint Paul School (1936) in Garden City, N.Y. and attended Colgate University and New York University. He was fortunate to spend his last years at the nursing home (Chatsworth) which is affiliated with Devonshire. He received excellent care in a lovely, caring environment. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Ted's honor to Hospice of Palm Beach County or Colgate University. Ted will be missed by the staff of Chatsworth, his many loving friends and family.
