MARION, VIRGINIA: Mr. Thomas Knox "Tom" Hancock, age 64 of Jefferson, Georgia passed away Thursday July 25, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Hancock was born in Atlanta, Georgia a son to Mrs. Elwyn Warburton Hancock of St. Augustine, FL and the late Mr. Knox Hancock. Mr. Hancock was a devoted employee, who loved his job everyday for 20 years at Kraft Foods. Mr. Hancock was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War, was a member of the Flippen Methodist Church in Flippen, Georgia and attended Pendergrass Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Hall Hancock of Jefferson, Georgia; daughter, Elizabeth Pittard and husband, Rick of Athens, Georgia; son, Ross Hancock and wife, Lorie of Lawrenceville, Georgia; mother, Elwyn Warburton Hancock of St. Augustine, Florida; grandchildren, Breannah, Spencer and Reese; and sister, Jo Masuret of Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral Service will be held Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pendergrass Baptist Church with Reverend Ervin Goss officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home Inc., 1350 Winder Highway, Jefferson, Georgia, (706)367-5467. Burial will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Chilhowie, Virginia with Military RItes conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will meet at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. to ride in processional to Cleghorn Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
