Tommye Jo Hays was born April 21, 1955 and passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Hillsville, Virginia after sharing 68 years of love, joy, and laughter with her family and friends. She was born in Marion and lived most of her life in Smyth County with her mother. Her life was a beacon of instruction for those close to her on the importance of love and kindness; qualities she demonstrated despite a lifetime of major medical issues. She is now blessed to be at peace, reunited in heaven with those she dearly loved who passed before her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert James Hays, Jr.; brother, Robert James Hays III; mother, Rachel Jean Young; grandparents, W.R. and Ethel Young, Robert James Hays, Sr. and Mary Fulton Hays, all of Smyth County.
Tommye Jo is survived by Alisha and Scott Walker, Virginia Osborne, Beth Atkins, Shannon Bills, Laurence Mann, Ann Hays and her special caretaker, Kim Trimble.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Kim as well as all of the special caretakers at the Carroll House in Hillsville who provided love and support to not only Tommye Jo, but her family as well.
