MARION, VIRGINIA: VELMA ELLEDGE COOK, age 95, departed this life Friday, September 11, 2015 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va. to be with her Lord and Savior.
She retired from Safeway Stores, Inc., in Waldorf, Maryland where she resided for thirty-seven years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Elledge; two sisters, Fay E. Pack and Maxine Davis; and her beloved husband of forty-three years, Walter Grant Cook.
Velma is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Walter Ronald and Nancy Cook of Bealeton, Va; one grandson, Gerald Ronald Cook of Charlotte Hall, Md; one sister, Jo E. Franklin and husband Ellsworth, of Hartford, NC; one step-granddaughter, Karen Kestner of Goldvein, Va; one step-grandson, Jimmy Darby of Haymarket, Va.; four step great-grandsons; special friends, Johnnie Belle Pruner and Wilma Cook of Marion, Va and Mercedes Vaira of La Plata, Md; and a host of friends from Gethsemane Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Seaver Brown Chapel with Reverend Ryan Cox and Reverend Richard Tapp officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion Va. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
