Marion, Va. & Rockwall, Tx.
Vergie Marie Weaver Sutter, age 99, entered eternal rest Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Rockwall, Texas.
She was born March 15, 1923 in Meadowview, Virginia to the late Walter P. and Cora Brooks Weaver. Marie (as she wanted to be called) married Eddie Grant Sutter on September 27, 1947. After the birth of two daughters, Elizabeth and Deborah, her family life began. Upon moving to Church Hill, Tennessee, her husband, Eddie passed on in August of 1966. Marie had to assume the loving responsibility of caring for her two girls. She was an amazing person and somehow put her girls through college. She continued her church membership at First Baptist Church of Church Hill for 38 years and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In April of 1996 she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where she was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. She opened her own antiques business, “Antiques on Gladstone” on Line Avenue in Shreveport. Marie was an amazing person. Everyone she met became an instant friend. She was always preparing food to take to someone.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Ballard (husband James Ballard) and Deborah Wilde; three grandchildren (Joshua Grant Ballard, Andrea Grace Ballard Carroll and Matthew Alan Sublett); and 4 great-grandchildren (Elise and Patrick Ballard, Chloe and Troy Sublett)
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion, Va. with Reverend Gary Gerhardt officiating
