ROANOKE, VIRGINIA: VIOLET LEEDY RUSSELL, age 83, passed away Monday, March 31st, 2008 at Roanoke United Methodist Home, Roanoke, Virginia.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Ted Russell, daughter, Leah Russell and grandson, John Spadaro all of Roanoke, Virginia; daughter, Lisa Burns and husband, David, and grandson, Russell all of Cary, North Carolina; one brother, William J. Leedy and wife, Geneva of Marion, Virginia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roby and Ruby Leedy of Marion, Virginia; and her sister, Sybil Prater.
A native of Marion, Virginia, and long-time resident of Salem, Violet was a pre-school teacher at Salem First United Methodist Church for many years. She attended Marion College and while in Marion worked as a secretary at Marion General Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia with the Reverend Roy Miller of Roanoke United Methodist Home officiating. A memorial service will be held in Antrim Chapel at Roanoke College, Salem, Virginia at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2008 with Reverend Roy Miller presiding. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Roanoke College, 221 College Lane, Salem, Virginia, 24153, or the Scholarship Fund at The College of William & Mary, P.O.
