RURAL RETREAT, Va.
WADE BLANKENBECKLER, age 74, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.
He was born September 21, 1942 in Smyth County, Va. to the late Clarence and Stella Blankenbeckler. Wade was a good man who loved his Lord and his family. He raised two girls on his own, and seemed to always have a smile and a gentle way about him. Wade was a long-time member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, and was faithful to the back pew with his brother James. Wade had many friends from his days at the Marion Ford Dealership and his greeter days at Walmart. His Hardee's breakfast family will miss him too.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Blankenbeckler.
Wade is survived by his daughter, Patricia Smith and husband, Rocky; brother, James Blankenbeckler, all of Rural Retreat, Va.; grandchildren, Natasha Hatfield and husband, Braden of Dublin, Va. and Michael Smith of Rural Retreat, Va.; great-grandchildren, Jayden Wright and Damon Hatfield.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Groseclose, Va. The family will receive friends, Thursday from 6 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
