Wayne “Roho” Gordon Compton, age 67, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home in Marion, Va.
Wayne was born February 20, 1951 in Swords Creek, Va. He was of the baptist faith and was a retired coal miner who enjoyed watching sports, racing, talking with friends and being outdoors. Above all Wayne was a loving husband, father, and “Gramps”. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will be treasured.
He was preceded in death by his father, Deaton Compton; mother, Goldie Brown Compton; sisters, Carol Ann Hess and Betty Snead; and brother, Larry Compton.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 24 years, Elizabeth “Tiny” Compton of Marion, Va.; daughters, Hope Cisneros and husband, Albert of Bristol, Tenn., Danielle Cisneros and husband, Jose of Crestview, Fla.; granddaughters, Rosalyn, Persefani, and Marisol; sisters, Frances Miller and husband, Elden, Barbara Baldwin and husband, Bruce, Rita Ascue and companion, J.D. Jessee, and Brenda Hale and husband, Ron, all of Honaker, Va.; brothers, Bobby Compton of Bristol, Tenn., Roger Compton and wife, Gail of Rosedale, Va., Louie Compton and special friend, Bernice Hagy of Richlands, Va., Ronnie Compton and wife, Vonda of Honaker, Va., Stan Compton and wife, Teresa of Lebanon, Va., Frank Compton and wife, Debbie, Don Compton, all of Honaker, Va., Gary Compton and wife, Becky of Swords Creek, Va., and Barry Compton and wife, Mary of Honaker, Va.; five nephews; special nephew, Timmy Compton and wife, Kristen; two nieces; great-nephew, Tanner Compton; great-niece, Abby; aunt, ,Sally Breedlove; uncle, Mack Brown and wife, Frances of Swords Creek, Va.; a host of cousins; and his loving dog, CoCo.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 4686 Red Bud Highway, Honaker VA 24260. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Raymond Perry, Reverend Wayne Baldwin and Pastor Steve Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim and Tanner Compton, Jason Musick, Alvin Keen, Kenneth Cole and Randall Wix.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to assist with expenses would be appreciated.
