William "Bill" Edgar Havens, age 83, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Francis Marion Manor in Marion, Va.
Bill was born in Smyth County to the late James Henry and Stella Margaret Gross Havens. He attended East End Baptist Church, and was retired from Marion Composites after 43 years of service. He enjoyed his journey's through the countryside looking for a new project car or truck to be remodeled. He loved to bring old vehicles back to life. Above all, Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James "Jim" Havens, Harry "Randy" Havens, and Gary "Lee" Havens.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis Sullins Havens of Marion, Va.; daughter, Mitzi Havens Branham and husband, Terry of Sutherland, Va.; grandchildren, Bradley Branham and wife, Shannon, and Sarah Slade and husband, VJ; great-grandchildren, Colby and Brady Slade, and Conor, Liam, and Maeve Branham; aunt, Mildred Gross; sisters-in-law, Shelby Jean Havens, and Molly Beatrice Havens, all of Marion, Va.; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Darrel Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Walkers Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
