MARION, Va.
William T. “Bill” Grissom, age 99, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at his home.
He was born October 18, 1917 in Thomasville, N.C. Mr. Grissom came to Marion with his family in 1948 and opened Grissom Motor Parts which remains open and successful to this day. He was a long-time member of the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church. He loved life, but was the happiest when on the water. Mr. Grissom was one of the Kiwanis Clubs oldest members, and enjoyed their food and fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ray Calhoun Grissom; and brother, Julian Grissom.
Mr. Grissom is survived by his son, Pete Grissom and wife, Sue of Marion, Va.; sister, Grace Angermayer; brother, Lynnwood Grissom, both of Wilmington, N.C.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Grissom of Ocala, Fla.; granddaughter, Cynthia Smith; great-granddaughter, Skylare Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Mr. Blake Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
