William (Minner) Howard Johnson, age 75 of Marion, Va., passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016.
He was born January 13, 1941 to the late Elmer Ray and Dorothy L. Johnson in Smyth County, Va. He honorably served our country in the United States Army prior to Vietnam. Mr. Johnson was owner and operator of Holiday Gulf Filling Station for a number of years. Following his ownership of the station, he ran the Frontier Restaurant in Marion, Va., and drove for Dave Thomas Towing and Trucking prior to retiring in 2015.
He was well loved by all who knew him and had made numerous friendships over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Owens.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his sister Clara (Tootsie) Naron and husband, Russell of Florida; one grandson, William Ray Johnson of Marion; daughter-in-law, Margie Stringer Johnson of Marion, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services to honor Mr. Johnson’s life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mike Sage officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery.
