William Pierce

SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: WILLIAM OSCAR PIERCE, age 94 passed away May 29, 2005 at Wellmont Hospice, Bristol Tennessee. He was born in Blue Springs, Virginia on May 13, 1911 to William Moses and Virginia Anderson Pierce. Mr. Pierce was a prominent farmer in Rye Valley, and a member of Wharf Hill United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marietta Crockett Pierce and foster brother William Wyatt. Mr. Pierce is survived by one son and daughter in-law William "Bill" Pierce and Mary Ann, of Sugar Grove, Virginia, one daughter and son in-law Betty P. Devitt and Fred B. Jr. of Delray Beach, Florida. Three grandchildren Frederick "Fritz" B. Devitt III of Gulf Stream, Florida, Suzanne D. Levit, of San Francisco, California, and Kimberly P. Davis of Louisville, Tennessee and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday May 31, 2005 at Wharf Hill United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove, Virginia with Rev. Kenneth Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Lawn Cemetery.
