MARION, VIRGINIA: WILLIS G. MOORE, age 83, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia.
Mr. Moore was a lifelong resident of Smyth County, Virginia, born March 10, 1931 to the late William Crumbly and Georgia Orr Moore. He retired from the Marion Department of Corrections after many years of service. Mr. Moore was a good man who enjoyed helping people and loved to fish. Above all he was a family man devoted to his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, W.C. Moore, Jr., Vance Moore, Bruce Moore and Mack Henry Moore; and sister, Peggy Ruth Carter.
Mr. Moore is survived by his sons, Gerald Moore of Marion, Virginia; Darrell Moore and wife, Janice of Kingsport, Tennessee and Terry Moore and wife Linda of San Antonio Texas; grandsons, Chris Moore and wife, Megan, Mark Moore, Matthew Moore, and Eric Moore; great-granddaughter, Oakleigh; step-grandson, Ryan Barnett and wife, Ashley; special friend and mother of his children, Bessie Johnson of Marion, Virginia; brothers, Don Moore and wife, Wanda of Rich Valley, Virginia and Jerry Moore and wife Brenda of Florida; sister, Jean Bise and husband, Otis of Saltville, Virginia; his dog, Soxx; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend William McCollian officiating. Graveside Services will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Ridgedale Cemetery, Rich Valley, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
