Winnie Leaula Ward Sherwood MARION - Winnie Sherwood, 85, of 595 Stoney Battery Road, died Friday, January 9, 2009, in Bristol Regional Hospital. She was a native of Smyth County, Virginia, and a member of The Independent Church of the Brethren. She was born February 2, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Ambrose Jason Ward and Essie Mae Harris Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Sherwood. She is survived by four children, Carole Sherwood Roland, Chilhowie, VA, Bettie Sherwood McMillan, Yuma, AZ, Mary Sherwood Castellow, Hampton, VA, and William (Willie) Sherwood, Marion, VA; one brother, Scott Ward, Marion, VA; one sister, Celia Ward Adams, Winter Haven, FL; and six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Winnie Sherwood will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, January 12, 2009 in the Seaver-Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the West Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 6-8 PM at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home.
