John Lewis Halsey, age 60, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.
John was born May 24, 1958 in Grayson County, Va. He was a dedicated employee with over 30 years of service with Virginia House Furniture. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Above all John was a loving husband, father and friend to many, and his presence will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Sharon Pruitt Halsey; and sister Eula Jean Halsey Greer.
John is survived by his daughter, LeAnn Halsey of Marion, Va.; son, Jarred Halsey of Atkins, Va.; parents, John Levi and Winnie Maude Dowell Halsey of Speedwell, Va.; brothers, Kenneth Halsey and wife, Sandy of Rural Retreat, Va., Dale Halsey and wife, Angelia of Wytheville, Va.; brother-in-law, Perry B. Greer of Rural Retreat, Va.; special friend, Phillip Creasy; and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Jerry Creasy officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 p.m. until the time of service.
